Montaigne is a quote-farm favourite: aphoristic, translated many times, and
his name attracts motivational misattributions. This page is the

verified_primary— verbatim (whitespace-normalized) in an ingested unit;

Verification rule
Every > blockquote in concepts/, principles/, chains/ must be a
case- and punctuation-exact, whitespace-normalized substring of the cited
unit's source file (scripts/verify_quotes.py). The evidence pool is
English (Cotton/Hazlitt, PG #3600) only; Russian renderings are our own
(«перевод наш») and are never machine-matched. French arbiter lines are
quoted only from sources/fr_arbiter_passages.txt. RAG-time rule: a
popular-quote-shaped query with no corpus match answers
NO_RELEVANT_KB_EVIDENCE, never confirms.
OCR-slips of the Gutenberg text are preserved verbatim and flagged inline
